What do you enjoy about MMA?
Everything! You have to force yourself to become a complete fighter, which comes with new goals and achievements.
What do you consider your strengths to be?
I am an all-round fighter. I’m comfortable anywhere the fight goes, but I like standing and banging.
What do you do when not competing or training?
I own my own gym in Cape Town (PHOENIX MUAY THAI & MMA). I enjoy going hiking, playing football and surfing because I have to be doing something; I’m not someone who can sit around doing nothing. I do admit to being somewhat of an Xbox addict from time to time.
Martial arts highlights:
I started fighting at the young age of 15 while training at a local gym in Cape Town. I defeated many older more experienced opponents at a young age and remained unbeaten in South Africa. I knew I was destined to do well. Soon after, I planned my first trip to Thailand and was amazed by the Thai way of fighting and true sense of the sport of Muaythai. It was not long before I was competing in Thailand against Thai fighters who were far more experienced than me. However, I remained undefeated until the age of 18. I now dedicate almost half of every year to training and fighting in Thailand and have done so ever since my first trip. I am undefeated in South Africa – with only two (2) losses on my record (both against current WPMF world champion Panom King Boxing). I am always looking to learn and challenge myself wherever possible, and this is why I have decided to take the challenge to be the best I can be in the fastest growing sport in the world – MMA.
